Perfect Contracting completed the pedestrian bridge demolition at Rosehill Station as part of the Sydney Metro West tunnelling project.
Gamuda Australia, our client, needed the demolition of this bridge and station to commence work on the dive site for the tunnel.
Since the bridge is listed as a heritage site, the challenging aspect was to remove it in one piece, allowing Parramatta City Council to utilise it.
The scope of work for this project involved:
- Rigging the stairs;
- Oxy cutting the bolts and structural steel connected to the bridge;
- Lifting each stair section out and removing them from the site by our lifting partners Borger Cranes;
- Removal of the bridge using a 400-tonne crane;
- Cutting to free the bridge from the supporting columns and beams;
- Removal of lead paint from the bridge by Perfect’s Hazmat crews;
The entire oxy-cutting process was sequentially executed by our skilled demolition team, and all the lifts were accomplished effortlessly. The lifting task was performed by Borger Cranes, our crane partner, utilizing a 400-ton mobile crane.
Throughout the project, Gamuda Australia, our client, commended our demolition team for their thorough planning and safety procedures throughout the project.
