Perfect Contracting completed demolition of a 2000 square metre dilapidated, abandoned and fire-damaged warehouse in Crows Nest.
The scope of work for this project involved:
- Demolition of fire-damaged roof;
- Hand dismantling of the roof’s unstable steel trusses and the building’s subsequent re-bracing;
- Hand demolition of the collapsing facade walls;
- Mechanical demolition of the remainder of the building;
- Dismantling the skeletal remains of the roof structure;
- Oxy cutting of steel frames into manageable lengths so that they could be sent out for recycling;
- Craning out concrete beams and lintels that weighed in at more than 8t apiece;
- Make safe – rendering the red zones safe to be able to complete the hazmat removal, and rubbish removal from those zones with the machinery and skips;
- Asbestos-Containing Material (ACM) removal in friable and non-friable conditions.;
- Stripping windows and fittings;
- Pulversing slabs by excavators;
- Removal of 500 tonnes of waste using the S70 Bobcat, the 24t and a slew of skips, segregation for recycling and dumping the rest;
- 2000m2 of asbestos material was processed at Bingo’s Eastern Creek facility;
After the literal settling of the dust, we managed to remove a total of thirty-eight 15m3 skips and 31 ten wheelers filled with rubble. Additionally, there was a COVID scare that required a site-wide shutdown, extensive cleaning, and numerous tests, and yet we still managed to complete the handover on schedule.
